Author, Instructor & Law Student

Finding the intersection between advocacy, self-improvement, and leadership.

ABOUT ME

As I struggle to introduce myself with the perfect balance between pride, humility, and quirkiness, here are a few things you should know about me: I’m a children’s book author, a spin instructor, and a law student. An interesting combination, I know. From failed entrepreneur to member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to being named a top 30 under 30 sustainability leader, I’ve worn quite a few hats.

There are two things that I’m a really big fan of, personal branding and paying it forward. That is why I created this website. This is a platform not only for me to document my journey, but also to share my knowledge and resources with you, and build a community of like-minded individuals looking to find the intersection between advocacy, self-improvement, and leadership.

INTERESTS

  • I have spent the last 8 years in the sustainability and climate space so you might say this is my bread and butter. But don’t get it twisted, I’m not an environmentalist. Labeling myself would imply I’m one-dimensional, but for me, the real goal is to find balance and compromise between environmental, social, and economic systems that allow us to solve the climate crisis in a just and sustainable manner.

  • I fell into the entertainment and education space by accident to be completely honest. As a teenager, I used to work as a camp counselor which I really enjoyed, and as such I wanted to find a way to re-enter the children’s education space. That is one of the reasons why I decided to write children’s books. From there, my work has progressed to the film and television industry where I sit on the board for a production company called On The Verge and an Environmental Film Festival known as Planet in Focus.

  • Health and fitness is something that always has and always will be super important to me, both physically and mentally. I’m no gym rat, but a lot of my days are centered around staying physically and mentally sharp. I currently teach Spin where I focus on helping students push past their boundaries both physically and mentally. It’s fun, it’s challenging and most importantly it builds quads of steel.

  • I am a second-year law student at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, specializing in Marine and Environmental Law. My current research focuses on the intersection of climate, peace, and security, with a particular emphasis on the Arctic region. Additionally, as a native of Sri Lanka, I am keen to explore strategies for supporting climate resilience and sustainability in island states.

  • Why does AI and tech appeal to someone who has spent their whole life in environmental advocacy? Great question. The reason why I initially chose to tackle the climate crisis wasn’t because I was a tree huger, its because I thought it was the biggest existential threat to mankind. I still believe that, but I believe AI is a close second and I hope to see how I can leverage global climate governance into global AI governance.
